I have been smoking for about 25 years and for the past 7 years I have only smoked outside.   Even on cold winter nights, I would bundle up so I could go stand outside for 5 minutes just to get my nicotine fix.  My girlfriend has never been a smoker, so she did not understand the nicotine cravings that would cause me to go stand out in the freezing temperatures, just so that I could smoke.  There were times when I would wake up in the morning with my chest hurting, and I knew it was from the smoking.
